It has been one week since my dad checked into the hospital and had a Liver Transplant!!! I want to thank everyone, especially GOD in heaven because of your thoughts and prayers my dad is on his way home...Yippe!!! I am sooooo happy!!!

Also, I would like to thank the young man who decided to become a donor and saved my dad's life. I pray that his family can take at least a little comfort in their time of sadness in knowing that their son is now apart of my dad.

Liver Transplant Day # 7

Day # 7

My dad is still in the hospital but not because there is anything wrong. The doctors are working on regulating his Anti-Rejection Drug...they keep uping it and once its where it should be the doctor will write out all the prescriptions. Once he calls them in to the pharmacy my mother will have to go pick-up all prescriptions and bring them to the hospital. When they see that my dad has all his medications in hand they will release him.

He is feeling really good. I talk to him all the time. He is still on a 2000 calorie diet and walks as he should.

My mom is has been staying with him for the past 3 nights....nothing like a private nurse, huh? They have the DVD player and watxh movies all day.

Anyway, thank you again for your continuous thoughts and prayers.

Here is a LO that I did last night. I just love these pictures if my dad and Nicholas. Super Cute!! Nicholas loves his Paw so much. I am so happy that Paw has a new liver and will be with us for years to come. Trust in God and he will work miracles!!!

Flower Power Class

I went to the "Flower Power" class today at my LSS and this is what we did.

Isn't it gorgeous?

This class is the best. The instructor is very creative and does a great job coming up with the ideas. I definately recommend taking this class.

Scrap Night

I did this LO from a page I saw @ my LSS. It was actually a two page LO but I only used one side of it as I thought this picture fit it perfect.

Liver Transplant Day # 5

Day # 5

Great Day Today!

My dad is up and walking around by himself. Every tube and IV has been removed and he got to eat yummy Turkey & Dressing today.

He is just sitting back relaxing and reading his Transplant Manaul.

What a week it has been but I am so happy that it has all worked out so well and that GOD has blessed my family. Especially my Dad!!

The good news is that he may be able to go home on Monday....

Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers!

Eats and Treats

Well, I had dinner today with my mom at the hospital and when I got home Carlos was hungery and felt like have some wings. So, we went to Wing Stop. I wish I hadn't eaten anything with my mom because those wings looked and smelt so good.

We went to Dairy Queen for dessert. It was soooo good and sooooo fattening...but we enjoyed our little family outting.

Liver Transplant Day # 4

TODAY IS A WONDERFUL DAY!!

My dad feels great! He is up and walking. He had a FEAST...Jello, Chicken Both, Juice & Tea....for lunch and dinner.

Doctors say all is well and they are looking toward Tuesday to release him.

The transplant nurse came out and gave them a lesson on all his meds and what they are for. She let them know the do's and don'ts after he is released and also brought him a bunch of Transplant goodies...one being a pillow shaped some what like a liver that people can sign...the nurse that spoke with him had a liver transplant 3 years ago so that made my dad feel good.

He also spoke to a few friends and his brothers on his cell phone...

He looks great!!!

Thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers

Liver Transplant Day #3

My dad is doing EXTREMELY well today. They took off tons of tubes this morning and he sat up in his chair. They moved him to a regular room in Telemetry and he is more relaxed.

Today was a great day. He is already walking up and down the unit and rotating from his bed to his chair. He is a TROPPER!

He has two tubes in his side...one goes befind the liver and the other in front of the liver for draining. I was impressed today that a 25 year old 4th Year Medical Student came in to pull out the lateral tube (behind the liver) and stitched it up. He asked my dad if he wanted a poke and burn or just 2 pokes...my dad said RAMBO style. Meaning he did not want the poke to numb the area. He stitched it with out being numb. The NP that was there assisting said, "You are Rambo...I'm impressed". I got to watch the whole procedure....it was neat.

The big doctor came in today and told us that the new liver is working great...doing everything its supposed to do. So, if the doc is happy then we're doing good.

Anyway, tomorrow they will take his NG tube out (in his nose) and hopefully someday he will be able to eat. Once that happens my dad says he will be a happy man.

The doctor said he will at least have to stay until Monday....and then they will decide.

The staples come out next Friday. They call his incsion a Mercedes incision....as that is what it looks like.

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers....everyday is a miracle!

Update On My Dad!

My dad is doing great today. The liver is functioning as it should and all is well. They took his breathing tube out this morning and he has just been sleeping on and off.

When I saw him this morning the 1st thing he asked was, "Where is the baby?". SO, I know he is gonna do well if he is laying there and all he can think about was Where Nick was...

He talked today with a horsey voice and is well aware of who is around. He had a few of his close friends visit today and really enjoyed that.

He asked me how long he had to be here and I said, 8-10 days and he said, "Oh No, Not That Long". So, with God's will he will be up and about alot sooner with that attitude. They may give him some Jello tonight or tomorrow...I know he is really thirsty but they willnot let him drink anything just yet...

Tomorrrow they will have him sit up and then if all is still well they will move him to Telemetry...where it will be a little more private and not so much going on.

We also met the wife of the husband who received they Lungs from the same donor.

Wow, what miracles can happen....

Liver Transplant

My dad had a Liver Transplant today.

They called my parents @ 7:15 am this morning and told them to get to the hospital right away as they have a Liver. My dad was actually at the Barber Shop when they called....he's an early bird.

Anyway, I rushed to get to the hospital but the traffic sucked....my mom called and said they are taking him back shortly and I freaked....my GOD, I wasn't gonna be able to see my dad....I hurried and prayed and when I got finally there he was still in Prep and I got to see him. My SIL took her camera so I got pictures with him too. He was really quiet as I know he was sooooo nervous. We did tell him a few jokes and planned out next vacation to try to make him feel a little better....told him to think happy thoughts. The doctors and nurses were wonderful.

Anyway, they took him back and the whole surgery took about 4 hours. Everything went well. He has a 22 year old liver....

After the surgery we got to see him but he was out....while I was in there he woke up moved his legs and raised his hand and looked at me for a second....I told him he was fine and just to lay still. They gave him a continous line of "Margarita's" and are going to keep him out all night into the next day.

Tomorrow when he can breathe on his own they will take out his breathing tube.

He will be in the ICU for 3 days and then in Telemetry for the remainder for a total of 8-10 days.

Please keep my dad and our family in your thoughts and prayers...I finally have a sense of relief but the next 24 hours are critical.

Also, please pray for the family who lost their loved one today. It's always hard when someone has to die in order to save anothers life.

BEACH

We went to the Padre Island this past weekend and stayed at the Holiday Inn Sun Spree Resort. It was very nice. The weather was perfect. We played in the sand, in the ocean, swam in the poo,. sat in the hot tub, went fishing and ate seafood. It was a wonderful weekend. Nicholas had a blast! Carlos had a great time fishing...his nephew Michael, his wife Adelia and their two kids, Viviana & Michael Jr. went with us.

Oh and by the way, I went to the LSS and got a few things. I scored really big at the Joann Fabrics in Corpus Christi...they had rows and rows of Scrapbooking goodies.

Cards

We can home from the beach today and I relaxed in my Scrap Room and made a few cards...I'll post pics from our beach trip in a little bit...

Well, we will be heading to the coast Friday morning....we will be staying on the beach so as long as we have good weather we will have a blast. Nicholas wants to take his dump truck so he can fill it with sand. Yummmmm, I can't wait to eat some seafood....I can already taste it. We plan on fishing too...so I hope I catch the big one. I beleive the hotel has internet connection so I will be able to get on-line at night. Unfortunately, I am leaving my Scrap supplies at home....BUMMER!!

Nick's Page

I was Scrapbooking today and Nicholas wanted to Scrap too! I let him pick out everything and let him pick out a picture which he cut around his face...he stuck it on the paper and them put his embellishments down. I would say he is a good little Scrapper like his mama!

Recipe Swap

I am doing a Recipe Swap for one of my on-line Scrapbook sites. I have to do (10) Lay-outs and the theme is "Favorite Thanksgiving Dish". I went to Hobby Lobby today with my mom and looked through everything and finally decided on some papers and embellishments...

This is what I came with...I still need to attach the recipe but what do you think? If you received this would you be happy? Does it need more?

I have done (1) and have (9) more to go...the good thing is I have everything already cut out...

Medina Lake

We went to Medina Lake today and had a great time. My nephew Michael and his family came along it their boat.

Check out some pictures from today...

Scrappin' Yesterday

I got to Scrap at home yesterday and here is what I did.

I can't take credit for this one as I was in Scrapbook 911 the other day and there it was...I loved it. So, I bought the papers and embellishments and copied it the best I could.

All the credit for the idea should go to Tami...one of the Scrapbook intructors at Scrapbook 911. Her's of course looks alot better than mine. Thank you so much for the idea Tami..you did a great job.

Here is alother one I worked on...I think its cute. Although, it took alot of time to piece together. I bought the embelishments form Scrapbook 911...it was a small package with the leaves, animals and "A Day At The Zoo"...

Last but not least, I made these fun cards from left over Scrap embellishments I had. I think they turned out pretty darn cute. I will add them to my stash as you never know when you will need a card.

We got Mario Kart for the Wii today and Nicholas loves it. I think it's alot of fun too! Anyway, here are some pics of Papa helping Nicholas play. You can see how much he enjoyed it by the expression on his face. He learned to steer on his own and it didn't take him any time at all. By the way, Nicholas can already manuever the mouse on the computer and moves well areound his favorite site...www.thomasandfriends.com. He clicks on his videos, pictures, activities and games...he has learn alot. My baby boy is growing up soooo fast!!! Here are a few videos....

My Baby Boy!

I just thought Nicholas looked so cute this morning that I had to take pictures. He loves to say, "Cheese". I love these pictures and plan to scrap a page at our next scrap.

Scrap-Room

I worked on my Scrap Room a little while today just organizing some things from our move. I am far from done with my room. I still want to paint one wall, buy a book shelf from IKEA, and a few other little organization things. I also want to get some fun curtains.

I also worked on a fun little wall hanging for my room...I found the idea on Canvas Concepts. I am going to make more wall hanging including some for Nicholas room with Sports Theme.

Flower Power

I went to my "Flower Power" class today at Scrapbook 911 and the instructor Jennie is awesome! Here is what we worked on today.

Friday Night Crop

My friends and I went to the Fridy Night Crop at our local Scrapbook Stores and we all had a blast. I only did 3 lay-outs but feel like I accomplished alot. I could have done more but we took the time out to have a quick dinner and then with all the conversation, helping out my friends, and looking around the store took up alot of time. I wish I just take a day and Scrap all day long...what a dream that would be.
